‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ Recap: Season 1 Episode 7

Following the awkwardness of Parents Week and all the crazy shenanigans that happened, the girls all get back into their lives and routines except some things have changed. So, this episode reverts to the original formula with the girls mostly going off and doing their own thing.

The first on our list is Kimberly because she has the most exciting and risky arc resulting in some steep consequences which we will get to. After going with Nico to his bedroom in the last episode, Kimberly wakes up in his bed. After she texts Bela about it, Nico wakes up and they agree not to tell Leighton about their apparent affair. 

They have sex again and continue having it throughout the day. The sheer excessive frequency of their romps leads to Kimberly getting to her job late and leaving 3 times during her shift, leaving study period and even missing her Econ class. She tells her co-worker Lila about the sex and how good it is. Kimberly also tells her she’s also failing Econ because of it. Lila advises her to ask the professor for extra credit which she does. Things however go badly when she invites Nico to the professor’s office for another romp. Very risky business. They start making out but stop abruptly when the professor walks in on them. This automatically disqualifies her from asking for extra credit. 

Kimberly also tells Bela and Whitney about the affair. She however has to hide it from Leighton for the obvious reason that Nico is Leighton’s brother. After getting caught, they spend the night together but they agree not to have sex.

Catching up with Whitney, she still feels sad about the fact that her affair with her coach has ended. Leighton comes in to take old sports clothing to donate to the women’s group and finds an old note from the coach in Whitney’s coat. After Whitney tells Leighton about the affair and how it’s left her feeling, she agrees to keep it a secret because it really isn’t a big deal for her coming from a New York private school. Leighton also offers to hang out with Leighton for the day.While they are having lunch, 

Whitney spots Canaan. Leighton convinces her to go talk to him. Whitney ends up spending most of the rest of the day with him apart from attending an acapella show with the rest of the girls that their dorm mate travis has forced them into going to. 

I also really love that Leighton called the coach “a weirdo who peaked in high school” and I am glad that the coach is out of her life. I hope he stays out.

During lunch, Bela confides in Kimberly that she is nervous about turning in her Cathollan submission because it determines whether she gets into the club or not. After Kimberly gives her some much needed encouragement, she turns in the submission. At the comedy clubhouse, Bela hangs out with Ryan and the other applicants in the private rooms upstairs. 

While they’re there, she demonstrates her knowledge of comedy lore and history recognising all the different pictures and autographs go comedy legends and spewing out so much comedy trivia. It’s all very impressive stuff. The other applicants are intimidated by her so they leave her with Ryan alone in the room. Ryan seems very impressed by her knowledge and tells her he would vote for her in the upcoming deliberations.While Bela is distractedly staring at a wall of autographs, Ryan walks behind her and puts his groin to her backside.

Bela immediately pulls away from him and tells him she’s not interested. She leaves and goes to wait in her room. Later, they come to get her from her room signifying her acceptance into the club. Ass the other members of the club celebrate with her, Ryan hangs in the background and looks sad. Boohoo for him. I honestly don’t care how he feels and I am glad Bela stood her ground and firmly said no. She’s a brilliant girl who got into the club on her own merit and because of the quality of her writing.

Finally we have Leighton. Leighton’s character growth since the first episode really shows a lot as she has become kinder and more empathetic towards others. She helps Whitney get over the coach, gives some great advice to a girl in the women’s group who just got through a breakup and she even takes the bold step of asking Alicia to be her girlfriend. 

Also, she gives us some new information; Nico who spends most of this episode hooking up with Kimberly has a girlfriend named Maya and Maya is coming to visit.

Eventually, it’s going to come out that Nico and Kimberly have been sleeping together. I have no doubts that it will cause chaos in the group and will have some fallout. 

I am also looking forward to seeing Canaan and Whitney grow closer. I’m happy that Bela is on track to achieve her dreams. I don’t know what craziness will ensue when Maya comes to town but I am here for it.
