'The Family Business' Recap: Season 3 Episodes 1-2

Carl Weber’s The Family Business third season is back with 12 episodes packed binge on BET+ After the season finale last year that came 6 months after the series aired in June we sure were left itching for a new season considering where Brother X left us.

The premiere episode picked up just where we left off, X adding Donna to his list of dead Duncans but that wasn’t the case. The trust of his blade was X’s imagination before he truly kills Donna but did not get the chance to.

Donna had company over, her boyfriend. That was X’s cue to leave with the package he came to deliver since she had company.

In Madrid Spain, Cora is sparing no cash in trying to replicate heat. The new doctor Fitz has made progress as their test subjects aren’t dying but ending up with long seizures. However knowing the kind of man Cora is, failure is not an option, the last 3 doctors ended up dead for their failure.

Nevada finally opened Paris’s gift, it’s a gun people. Paris had to do one more rebellious thing before flying off to Europe. I really hope we see more of Paris and Rio because the second half of The Family Business last year made their characters flats. Hopefully, the gun wouldn’t have the Paris disaster as she always leaves behind.

Things are looking good for Sonya and Junior, they announced to the Duncans they will be getting married in 3 months and Sonya is well getting welcomed into the family. Chivee will plan the wedding while L.C agreed to walk her down the aisle and Orlando is Junior’s best man.

Speaking of Orlando, he has his hands full with Brandy. She slashed his tires in the night just to get his attention and even told Orlando’s new woman he has an STD. Brandy keeps getting crazier but I have a theory, she might be the key Cora needs to replicating heat, what better way to get back at Orlando than that?

Well, that theory isn’t so far-fetched, Cora was informed about a female scientist that worked on Heat by one of his doctors, you sure are right if you guess Brandy is that lady.

All Cora needs now is more Heat supply before meeting with Brandy and Sebastian is the guy.
He put the same pressure Alexander puts on everyone working for him on Sebastian to get Heat. However, Orlando was buying Sebastian’s offer to get more Heat and L.C gave him the ''we will consider his offer'' speech.

For some reason, I was hoping we wouldn’t have to deal with Consuela this season but the lady is still alive, Herlandro is paying her with the same coin she gave him.

There was nobody at the grave, Juan and Natalia got their case dismissed for illegal search but Consuela however is sitting in a room somewhere. Alejandro doesn’t want to kill her at least not until he makes her suffer what he went through thanks to her lies.

Sasha and Elijah are continuing with their relationship something the Duncan’s might have a problem with. Over dinner, Elijah spoke to her about the chances of their relationship and her family knowing about them.

Sasha does love Elijah but there is a lot it would take to be with him, first he is a Muslim, he tried to kill Chivee’s sons that’s not something any of the Duncans might accept. Well, we have a long list of people the family has had to put up with even though they tried to kill them, so Elijah might get a room.

Brother X still has his eyes out for Donna, stalking to kill her when she is alone. He followed her while she had her morning run but that too wasn’t a good time, she had company and a cop that has a crush on Donna pulled up.

Meanwhile, there is a new guy in town Curtis Duncan a bounty Hunter looking to kill X. His first lead was Shamen, X’s sister’s place but X wasn’t there.

At the end of the episode, Curtis was arrested for being at the right place at the wrong time. In trailing X, he found a van with a body in it the same time the cops arrived.

Episode 2 of the Family Business brought in the same energy, yap! the Duncan family always protects their own. L.C and Harris as well as Junior had to go get Curtis out and back in the house with them. The rest of the Duncans might have been happy to see Curtis but not Orlando. The moment Orlando realized it was Curtis and not his mother that made breakfast, he spat it out. 

Speaking of Orlando, Brandi went a step further filing a report against Orlando, this time she went for the bulls, he is the lead executive in the production of Heat. Thankfully, detective Brian is on the Duncan's payroll, he handed L.C the file. L.C was right when he told Orlando his penis would cost the family a lot.

Chivee and Sasha had to pay Brandi a visit to get her to leave town but the crazy lady wouldn't she was still underestimating the Duncan's until Sasha pulled a gun with a silencer on her. 

Brandi's trip to San Diego wouldn't be happening anytime soon. While following Sasha advice to celebrate leaving town, she met Aries Cora, Alexander's son. The fine black man came all the way to New York to get Brandi to come work for them. I can't wait for the Duncan's to get wind of this, there will be some shaking up this season.

We lost Baby and Doll on this episode of the Family Business, a retribute for pulling a gun on Alexander Cora because his wife sure did the job herself. I could feel Sebastian's pain when he walked into the room seeing his girls dead on the floor.
