'Riona' Recap: Season 1 Finale Episode 260

 

If you watched Riona on your sit tonight then you are brave because tonight's finale brought out all the emotions we had been piling up all season. All the dead came back to life, the prisoners also became free. Ofotokun was wondering what dark magic this was but the rebels were stronger.

Atigbi used her powers to restore Agbeyegbe's powers and Ogbitse died in the process. Agbeyegbe stopped her, he does not want to become a god, he wants to be human and stay with her. Atigbi apologized, this is the only way his powers can come back.

Edonmi and Arenyeka came to speak with her, Edonmi told her she cannot abandon Oyomere, she has to make a sacrifice and become a god. Atigbi would not become the one thing she despises the most, a god.

Arenyeka told her it is the only way, she has to make the sacrifice a mother would make for her son. Atigbi reconsider because of her love for Agbeyegbe, only him could make her do this. She made the sacrifice and Agbeyegbe became human so he could stay with the girl he loves.

Meanwhile, Togharo was not the only dead, Dewa, Kumene, Ukwedojo, and all the Ireales that have been killed in the course of the series fought alongside Jereoma, Biobele, Tsebi, and Dunmi against Towu and his men. 

While the battle was being fought, Kumene shot Towu the first arrow on his shoulders. He became weak but ran because the crown prince of Oyomere will not die today. Kumene did not run, she followed him into the bushes, and with one arrow to his head, the little tyrant that is Towu died.

The women also came back to life, Meejabi, Aso's wife, Ebiyon joined in the fight for Oyomere. The Oyomere warriors dropped their weapons, Ofotokun saw the battle was against him so he ran, today is not the day he dies. Aghan and Tsema went after him, today they fulfill their destiny. 

Ofotokun ran into the palace, no one comes in! Ofo appeared and told him today he dies, Ogbemi also reminded him of all the people he has killed, and this time Ofotokun had nowhere else to go, he couldn't take their words so he ran out of the palace.

The warriors ran to the stockade, they informed Bemigho that the king ran into the palace looking distraught, it appears he lost the war. Bemigho decided to carry out the king's last orders, kill Misan since that was what he ordered.

Just when he was about to behead Misan, Amaju's arrow met one of the guards and killed him. Misan was happy to see her Amaju then Itse came, he too was happy to see his brother. Amaju asked Itse to stand and fight for Oyomere. They both attacked Bemigho and his men.

Ofotokun ran into his chambers and Mofe was there waiting for him. Ofotokun asked her why she did this to him, why she lied about Aghan's death. Mofe told him it is his evil that has caught up with him, Omereyon is still paying for what they did in the afterlife and he too would join him, today is the day you died.

In the struggle between Itse and Bemigho, Itse killed Bemigho but he did not die alone, Bemigho also drove his knife through Itse. Itse felt fulfilled, he told Misan he kept his word to her but his family was not, Roli and Tsefino returned to Itse taking his last breath.

Ofotokun ran but it got to the point where he could no longer run, this time Aghan and Tsema caught up with him. Aghan and his father fought but it was Tsema's arrow that brought Ofotokun to his knees when he was beating Aghan blue-black. 

Ofotokun still would not die, he had enough strength to grab Tsema and was about to strangle her as revenge to her mother when Aghan's blade drove the final blow from his back. They finally fulfilled their destiny in a tag-team effort.

Trust the king to say his last words before he died, Agbakara! It was Ofo and Ogbemi that dragged the king to the afterlife, the prophecy has been fulfilled.

Atigbi gave Arenyeka her strength and power, she told her that her son is not ready besides what would she do without her sparring partner? Arenyeka could not believe Atigbi would do something like that for her.

Arenyeka also asked her where she would go now. Atigbi sarcastically told her now she is a god and cannot sit with her kind, she might find her in the forest. The two frie-nmies held hands together on last time.

Edonmi told his father missed him, he was so afraid for a very long time. Ofo was proud of his son for standing strong in times of diversity.  Ofo told Arubi she was the best woman for the job, she did not only stand as his wife but his partner. He told Abugewa he is proud of him.

Ogbemi wanted to ask for his daughter's forgiveness but she said there was nothing to forgive, Arubi hugged her father one last time. 

Abugewa also had his chance to meet Kumene but this time with Abiyere holding his hand. Kumene approved of their relationship. I cannot wait to see Kumene in action again in Venge, the new series coming on Africa Magic Showcase this October.

Jolomi apologized to his sister Ebiyon for the night of the dark moon. She was proud of her brother for all he had done since that night, he is brave. 

Misan took Aghan to Mofe, her son. Mofe held but her daughter Tosan and Aghan, they were her greatest gift.

Meejabi also had a moment with Esanjumi and her family but it was Amaju's reunion with his family that brought tears to our eyes.

Amaju thanked Aso for saving Tsema, he is forever indebted to him. Tsema then allowed Amaju to hug his wife while she went to hug Aso but later joined Misan and Amaju for a while.

Ebisan was happy for Aso, she knew he would find a good woman to marry. Meanwhile, Togharo apologized to his son and to Akwaugo for the things he did.

Itse handed his family over to Amori, they are his family now. He also approved of Tsefino and Amori's union.

The time came for the dead to part from the living forever, Atigbi left Oyomere with her host. If there was anyone who loved Oyomere more it would forever be Atigbi, she gave the people more than they could ever ask for.

A new dawn for Oyomere, Aghan was crowned Ogiame by Jolomi with Tsema as his wife, An Oyomere where there is no Ireale or Omajajas just Oyomere. The people of Oyomere sang to their freedom with Aghan and Tsema smiling sheepishly at themselves.
