Turner and Hooch is Disney's TV adaptation of the crime comedy-drama franchise of the Tom Hanks movie with the Turner and Hooch. An eccentric-looking Scott Turner (Josh Peck), a Deputy US MarshallHe seems like a perfect cast but any white boy with a baby face can play a cop with a dog.
Turner is pretty meticulous with his morning routine after his alarm wakes him up, he makes his bed, exercises cleans up, dresses up, gets his early morning tea, talks to his Roomba vacuum cleaner he calls 'roomie'. Turner is that guy with no life outside his job only his routines to keep him going. He meets up with his partner Jessica Baxter (Carra Patterson) who is months pregnant but still active at her job, the nagging pain from her pregnancy isn't about to end her career.
The odd partners go question a suspect at his home but his mom answers the door while he unsuccessfully tries to escape from committing computer fraud. After a successful chase down, they make their first arrest for the day.
The chief of the police department introduces them to an FBI agent in his office. Turner and Jessica were instructed to be on security detail to protect a key witness, Larry Gluck in an upcoming case.
The witness is not satisfied with the cops assigned to him as bodyguards. He expected them to be "bigger" and not pregnant.
The cops also have a sense of humor to accommodate Larry's excess, they escorted him to his room at the safe house that is also not to his taste and bid him goodbye, they will see him in court the next day.
Turner kept getting calls from his mom but ignores them. He gets a knock on his door and he is immediately grabbed by a large dog escorted by his sister Laura (Lyndsy Fonseca) and her son. The dog came with a giant letter of instructions from his late grandfather.
Hooch, the giant dog immediately proceeds to make his presence known the way he can by destroying Turner's apartment, there is a new sheriff in town.
Out of frustration, Turner calls his mom to take back the dog, which she refuses to do because it's a gift specifically for him. If Mohammed wouldn't go to the mountain, the mountain is definitely going to come to him.
There is a new spice in Turner's life, his morning the next day starts differently from his systemized routine. Dog kisses, a messed up apartment, and broken rumba. He is the new "bestie" so he would not be needing that anyway.
While trying to get over the mess the dog made, Jessica calls him, the safe house had been attacked by three men in a mask in a silver suburban car and the witness abducted.
Turner immediately spots the car and goes on a rough chase, they stop at an alley. While he steps out of his own vehicle to inspect it. Hooch rummages through the trash ignoring Turner calling him repeatedly out of frustration to get back in the car, the getaway car behind him explodes.
They take it up with the chief who scolds them for their incompetence and Turner who was already late for work and had to take Hooch with him, he is having a hard time getting him to stay still.
His superior officer Chief Mendez (Anthony Ruivivar) is not pleased with Hooch taking interest in his groin area, the lawyer for the case even calls it a health violation after Hooch barks at him loudly in the office, there also agent Long who is calm during this entire activity.
Turner brings up the dog crisis with Jessica after she asked him why he has been stressed, she promises to introduce him to someone who can help.
They end up at a military dog training facility where Turner meets Erica (Vanessa Lengies) Turner shares his difficulty with her, He says Hooch behaves for everyone but him she immediately shows him that Hooch is actually trained. Sometimes it is about the owner, not the dog, you only flow with his energy.
Turner has never been the one to keep pets, his systematic lifestyle would not allow for dog's drool, smell, act, and delay his job but Matthew quotes his grandfather to help Turner see better, "dogs make you better at your job and they're smarter than people cause people to see what think they should see and dogs just see what is there"
With those words, Turner finally decides to read the letter from his dad with Hooch by his side.
His father requested that he keeps Hooch as his inheritance because he's smart, loyal, and has a big heart. His father always wanted him to have a dog that loves as much as he loves him.

This all resonates with Turner, in that instant he gets a lead that Turner takes to his superior but the bosses know best, he decides to take him and Jessica Baxter off the case.
They are met on their way out of the office and the lawyer mocks them for getting taken off the case, this time Hooch does not bark at him.
Turner immediately fixes the missing pieces, it was the other agent the whole time, the one who stood behind the lawyer, during the case briefing.
Turner believes that the barking is linked to Agent Long being a crooked cop. It all adds up too, especially if he was the one who was masked. The same mask, as it turns out, that Hooch found in the alleyway rummaging through trash.
Turner immediately tells Jessica all this and she states how incredible the dog is, while he tries to take credit for it all. Hooch barks again at a moving vehicle which could be the scent of the agent and they start tailing him. No one is getting off the case now.
While they stake outside the warehouse where Long went into, they watch him interrogate the witness strapped to a chair at gunpoint. In an attempt to arrest agent Long, he shoots them and escapes.
While the agent lights up the warehouse to set it on fire and trap them in by shooting anyone trying to get out the main door. Turner gets the idea to get him to stop shooting And gives a little prep talk to Hooch before sending him out of the warehouse to attack agent Long.
With the help of Hooch, Turner and Jessica saved the day and solved the case before the other cops come to the rescue.
Turner and hooch are called to his superior's office and Erica is there to offer training to the new k9 unit.
Erica hints she's interested in him but it completely skips Turner. Thankfully they're working together now so eventually, we will see their relationship progress.
When you think it was over, Laure called Turner to communicate what she found in their dad's old stuff,
old cases he has been working on alone. The cases are linked to something major and only Hooch can provide them with certain details but since he's but a dog and can't speak, they will have to work with him too.
It seems Turner will have to take on a new case every episode like a typical cop series and learn a lot about his father as well as bond with Hooch.
