'The Smart Money Woman' Recap: Season 1 Episode 1

The TV adaptation of the book The Smart Money Woman premiered today on Africa Magic Showcase Channel 151. The 13 episode series would air Wednesday at 9:30PM W. A. T and You can catch all the juicy recaps here on KRAFFTI.

In today's episode, Meet Zuri, she is leaving a fabulous life, designer wardrobe, luxury travel. well paid job, an apartment on the land, and a rich boyfriend. Her Bank balance is 180000, other assets 0, Liabilities 3,000,000, her net worth is -2,820,000 but Zuri cannot be caught unfresh as she fitness her way through the airport with lots of shopping bags.

Lara her friend is going over Bella Naija when she sees the latest wedding gist, it is Olumide getting married to someone that isn't Zuri. She immediately calls Adesuwa to give her the gist.

Adesuwa a conservative lawyer, is having s divorce meeting with a husband and wife that keep threatening to take each other down. She finally excuses herself to take the call against her client's wishes. Lara gives her the gist so they have to meet up later tonight.

Ladun is doing her work out with Steve her trainer but she has gained even more pounds than the last time they met. No judgments Steve!

Tami the creative designer, is doing a fitting for her client when she gets the news of Olumide's engagement. Boom! all the girls see pictures of Olumide's engagement and as Lara puts it they are having a Mayday situation.

On a conference call, the girls contemplate how they would tell Zuri, none of them have the courage to break the news to Zuri since she just landed from the airport but Tami suggests they call her, she needs to hear it from them.

Tami decides to call Zuri and she has already heard the news. Zuri did not see this one coming, it was just a break, he kept calling her during her entire trip nothing about an engagement or a fiancee. Zuri decides she would go over to his house to handle this personally.

Zuri got to the apartment and called Olumide. The moment he goes outside to take the call, Zuri is standing there with a sad face. Olumide says she should keep her over down, she is inside. Olumide is unrepentant, why is she being dramatic?  he only texted her because he is a friend and the fact that they broke up doesn't mean he is not her friend. Zuri cannot believe he strung her along for two years and the reason they went on a break was that she wanted them to get married something he said he was not ready for. Zuri left after she slapped him on his chest calling him an asshole. 

On her ride back home, Zuri gets a call from Temi and the rest of the girls. She explains that Olumide told her a break is a break-up. The girls are there for her, Olumide does not deserve her. After the call, Zuri remembers the day she and Olumide were lying in bed when she asked him about meeting her mum and getting married. Olumide told her he was not ready, marriage isn't really his thing then began to watch a skit online to avoid the conversation.

The moment Zuri got to her house, the security man begins to praise her, now that she is back his Sunday rice would be having two meets but when she enters the house, he calls the landlord to inform him Zuri is back, he told him to inform him when Zuri comes back.

Zuri and Tami are in her house going over the comments online calling Zuri lots of names for showing their relationship when he was not married to her. They both come to the conclusion that Olumide is an asshole and he deserves what is coming to him, she is better without him.

The next morning while Zuri is sipping tea, her landlord comes knocking for her service charge, she has to pretend like she is not at home but he knows she is in there and would come back for the money. Zuri calls Tami to complain about the service charge, she just wants everyone to leave her alone.

When Tami gets off the phone with Zuri, Bobby the superstar comes out of the store she was waiting for her ride by. Bobby gives her a cunny pick up line, he does not believe in coincidence the fact that her pink hair matches his shirt means they were supposed to meet, she should give him her number. Tami hesitates but the moment the Valette brings his car upfront Tami reconsiders, he is driving a Porsche of course she would give him her number.

Zuri just finished buying fuel and is about to drive off out of the station when Olumide calls then her car stops. Just what Zuri needs right now, she is just going to work and this happens.

Zuri gets out to check the car but the customer behind, a young fine-looking hunk of a man comes to help her but Zuri pours out her frustration on him, he should get on the other line, he can see her car broke down.

Things couldn't get any worst, Sunday the mechanic tells her the engine has knocked and would cost her 500,000 thousand to fix while he is sipping pour water.

The moment she got to the office, the staff inform her of the presentation she is supposed to have today that Zuri totally forgot about. In her office she calls Tami to inform her about the car, her mechanic is asking her for twice her salary to fix it and she does not have it. Tami says so she is broke! Zuri does not think she is, broke is for people that her poor. 

The presentation was a disaster because Zuri could not get her balance after all that had happened today, her boss gave her a warning and placed her on probation to get her act back or she would be fired. While Zuri is leaving his office, the man from the fuel station enters to talk to her boss, Zuri is left speechless after the attitude she gave him earlier.

BROKE actually means ''If you lost your primary source of income today, you wouldn't be able to maintain the lifestyle you have become accustomed to because you have no assets to rely on.''
