'P-Valley' Recap: Season 1 Episode 3 Higher Ground

This week on P.Valley. Mercedes gives a private dance to Coach, another regular at the Pynk. Coach has plans for Mercedes, offering to take her to Memphis, set her in a condo, and get her in the sky bar for every game he has. Mercedes isn't an OG for nothing all he keeps saying are things he cannot provide when he is married. Mercedes tells Coach this fantasy is cheap but real life he cannot afford it so she takes her money and leaves Coach to enjoy the rest of his night as Pynk opens. 

Autumn continues to grow in the business, she and Gidget go wig shopping. Gidget recommends a long straight blonde wig for Autumn with words her mama used to tell her 'a stripper always has her looks'. 

Andre can't seem to get his mind off Autumn since the other night. While staring at the picture of her smoking outside Pynk, Andre takes his phone to text her again, she hasn't replied to any of his messages since that night. Andre gets a call from Bill concerning the Casino, he loves what they did to the blueprint.

Autumn has been bringing in the good ones just like Mercedez does and Mercedez is getting jealous of the racks she brings in when she sees her handing Clifford his cut. Clifford is desperate to get more information about the Casino so he swings Lekisha Savage, Autumn's fake ID at her face to get her to move on Andre if she wants to get it back and continue working.

Andre goes to see Mayor Tydell who is also his godfather on the Promise Land project. Tydell is in with the Kyle brothers for 6million dollar sale of the property but their brother Corbin wants to lease the land. 

The Mayor has been taking kickbacks for himself and also wants to name the Casino after himself which does not sit well with Andre. Tydell says they need to keep all of this a secret so they dont get shut down before they even kick-off.

It rained in Mississipi today. Autumn needs a cigarette so she meets Diamond for one. Diamond doesn't say much to her, he gives her a light then leaves her to herself. Autumn finally reads her messages from Andre and is about to ignore them when she gets a message from Telex to come with an ID for the money. Motivation to call Andre back.
Andre and Autumn meet up at a diner for breakfast. Andre leaves in Atlanta and goes back every weekend to see his wife Britney. Autumn tries to bring up the Casino but Andre says it is a trade secret and he is not supposed to be saying that. While they are still talking,  one of the customers at the diner tells Andre and Autumn a story a lot similar to Autumn's about the history of the mountains. Just like the brothers in the story, Autumn carries death as she journeys to any direction the wind takes her.
Mercedes, Miss Mississipi, and Gidget come into the dinner and join Autumn and Andre at their table. Andre takes the cue to leave but pays for their meal first and Autumn agrees to see the mountains with him.
It is not rare to have strippers turn their regulars into something more, Mississipi has Corbin Kyle, Gidget turned her regular into her boyfriend through her white girl magic, Mercedes has Coach playing save the damsel in distress and Autumn is having breakfast with her regular. Autumn says there is nothing going on with them but the girls know better.

Clifford pays Corbin a visit at the Kyles curtain farm in one of his eye-popping outfits. Clifford knows about his meeting with Andre at the club the other night and wants to know what is going on. Corbin hesitates to say anything because it is his family secret but Clifford is one to trust, his legs stay open but his mouths stay sealed, he has always known Corbin was the bastard son of Johnny Kyle, one he had with the maid and never said anything. Corbin tells him about the Casino that is trying to buy their land, he is trying to convince Wayne and Wyatt his brothers to lease instead of an outright sale, they stand to make 10million from the deal. Clifford is excited, The Pynk would be right across a Casino. What Clifford doesn't know is the land Pynk sits on is the actual land the Casino needs.
Patrice is giving a mindblowing sermon in Church and the congregation of empty seats keeps asking for her to preach some more. It was all in Patrice's head practicing for the day Gilfield would put her on the pulpit. Mercedes comes in to talk to her mother about her 20,000 dollars, it is for her gym. Patrice can see she really means her retirement plan so she decides to write her a check tomorrow. Mercedes gives her mama a hug for doing this for her.

There is a video of Chocoliza girls twerking on the internet on  #BadBitchParty and Mercedes makes the girls give her 70 jump squats as their punishment.
Miss Mississipi has a wrist injury again so she leaves to take care of it when she, Mercedez, and Gidget practice for their Trinity dance later tonight. Diamond is in the kitchen and offers to help, he knows her boyfriend is hitting her again. His alcohol and pepper recipe works on Miss Mississipi's hand but she has to go tend to her kid when Clifford calls her.

Before the show, Miss Mississipi hands Autumn her baby to hold while she goes out with the girls to perform. Holding that baby brings Autumn back to the night she keeps having memories off, the night she tried to save her daughter and shot her husband so she heads for the bar to keep the pain away.
Watching, Mercedes perform with Gidget and Miss Mississipi and how the crowd goes wild, Autumn decides to climb the pole but Mercedes is not getting upstaged by Autumn's drunken self so she climbs the pole with her and turns what would have been a disaster into more excitement for the crowd seeing how Mercedes dominates Autumn on stage.
Back in the changing room, Mercedes confronts Autumn, she needs to go home and take care of herself before she gets someone killed. Mercedes claims she doesn't care about her, she should never get on her stage again.

Autumn and Andre meet at the mountain top for their not so much of a date. They get talking about the Casino and end up in Andre's hotel room with enough desire that gets turned down when Andre realizes he has no condoms. Before leaving to get some, Autumn makes him open his laptop so she can keep her engine running till he returns. Immediately Andre leaves the door, Autumn does what she really came for, to access the Casino project.

Back at the church, Pastor Gilfield picks Elder Cladell to preach on Sunday in his place, he is going to the Mississipi Boulevard for the revival. Patrice thinks she can do better, she is the one that brings the dollars to the church, she also helped them in getting the loan from the bank, Cladell would only bring in cents. Pastor Gilfield says women are the backbone of the church but they appreciate her for all she has done but they need to respect their elders and his decision is final.

Andre got the condoms and his coming back to his hotel the same time Autumn is watching porn and copying the file for the Casino, she curiously goes to his gallery, sees the picture he took of her smoking outside Pynk and is immediately upset. Andre returns to the room ready to pick up where they left off but meets the picture of Autumn on his laptop and the porn she was watching but no Autumn.

Miss Mississipi and Gidget take the pole tonight and both their boyfriends come by Pynk to watch them perform. Clifford has a business arrangement with Gidget's boyfriend, Clifford has him selling Oxy.

Later that night, Autumn returns with the flash for Clifford. They go through the blueprint and also see the money for the land before Autumn asks for her ID back. Andre keeps calling Autumn and she does not want to take the call so Clifford takes her phone to text Andre. Before handing her the ID, Clifford says he needs her to do one more thing for him. 

Mercedes sees her girls watching a video of a house party and one of the teenagers in her dance group is in it. Mercedes immediately drives up to the house, someone is getting her ass whooped. 
Back at The Pynk, Andre is escorted into the Paradise room thinking he is meeting Autumn but it is Uncle Clifford wearing Autumn's wig.
While Terricka is cleaning the place, Mercedez gives her a piece of her mind on how she is destroying her life and would end up with a baby at 13. Terricka says if she gets pregnant at that age she would not give up her child like she gave her up before storming up to her room.

Mercedes did not give Terricka up, Cortez had custody of their child and Mitchell his wife has been raising her. With all the behavior Terricka is exhibiting, the dance video, and the party, Mitchell decides to take her off the dance team. Mercedez tries to beg her against it, this is the only time she gets to spend with her daughter. Mitchell is willing to let her do any other thing except dancing.

Terricka's foster mother arrives home and is not happy, she explains to Mercedes how Terricka is always obsessed with her body, she says it all started when she joined Mercedes's dance group.

Terricka's foster mother said she would have to stop her from attending the dance practice, the only time Mercedes gets to see her daughter. She is upset but has to agree to the terms.

Big L is also in Paradise room to make Andre comply, give Clifford the information he needs. Clifford wants to hear from the Horse's mouth about the Casino seeing he cannot see Pynk on his map. Andre would not divulge confidential information concerning Promise Land. Clifford makes him understand that he is not going anywhere but Andre knows they are knee-deep in debts. The Mayor of Pussy Valley would not be leaving his kingdom.

When Andre leaves, he calls his godfather to inform him they have a problem.

Autumn finally goes to Telex Money Transfer to collect her money with Lekeisha Savage's I.D card. We might be seeing a new Autumn with lots of cash.
