'Motherland: Fort Salem' Recap: Season 1 Episode 3 A Biddy's Life

This week's episode on Motherland: Fort Salem introduces the male counterparts of our witches. Although Motherland is centered on the strength of women, there are also wizards in the military, and Beltane is the day we get to meet them.

The arrival of the boys at Fort Salem even Alder's biddies excited. Before they all line up in their uniforms waiting for Alder, one of the older witches tell the rest of the seven this is the second-best day in Fort Salem. Wondering now which is the first.

Alder and her biddies, as well as the entire recruitees, line up to receive the Witchfather {Played by Nick Tarabay} and together with his male recruitees as they arrive Fort Salem. They very excited recruitees.
While the boys file into Fort Salem, Tally immediately has a connection with Gerrit one of Abigail's old friends. Tally might finally lose her virginity who knows!

Tally's energy rush is higher today that she performs perfectly well during their drill sessions. When Anacostia asks the girls when they think Tally is doing better than the rest at training. Libba teasingly says it is because Tally saw all the men and got all charged up, a mere tease that turns out to be true. The arrival of the male recruitees at Fort Salem has the energy at base increasingly more and Anacostia tells there would be a lot of energy around here all the way to Beltane, they are to channel that energy into their performance to make them stronger.

While there is lots of excitement at the base, the Spree attack at Dayton, Ohio. At a swimming pool, one of the male users at the pool carries out the attack when he whispers incantations that freeze the pool with everyone inside completely killing them all.
As the male and female recruitees mingle, they are instructed to meet as many people as they can not restrict themselves to one particular person but this is not the case of Tally who already has eyes for Gerrit and he does the same.

Scylla's past also arrives at Fort Salem with the rest of the recruitees. After seeing Scylla and Raelle together, Porter Scylla's ex-boyfriend Porter approaches Raelle out of anger and warns her not to get too attached.

An emergency meeting has been called in The Hague by the Castle, a group of military generals from all over the world something similar to the G5 to discuss the increased attacks by these terrorists. General Sarah Alder attends together with her 7 Biddies. In the session, the Generals, who are representatives of different countries talk about the escalation of the Spree and the need to take more drastic measures to stop them but Alder says this is not a time to make irrational decisions when they have variable intel America would spare head the operation and cut the head of the Spree once and for all. Alder's statement does not seem to sit well with the General Shamea from India. She objects to Alder's presumption of leadership to matters that concern all of them.

The General from Russia brings another matter to the table. Some mysterious magical seeds were found one that Alder recognizes because it has to do with her blood. The Generals debate that they should make use of these peculiar seeds to destroy the Spree, a motion which was objected by Alder. The meeting is brought to an abrupt end when one of Alder's biddies collapses, causing General Alder to age a bit.

Back at Fort Salem, Abigail Bellweather seems to be obeying the rules, unlike her unit mates. Abigail got two boys Clive and Austin to chaperone through to Beltane. Abigail would always lead the pack or not be in it at all. Tally, on the other hand, is still trying to figure out her attraction to Gerrit. Raelle isn't as excited as the other girl, first, she is not into girls and the warning she got from Porter about Scylla has her thinking.

Gerrit walks up to Tally to finally get them talking. It is love at first sight for Gerrit and Tally since they met they can't keep their eyes from each other and up spending the whole day together against the rules of limiting themselves.

The illness Alder's biddy suffers at Hague is felt back at Fort Salem. The trees begin to drop dead fruits making Anacostia know something is wrong with Sarah at Hague.
An immediate return to Fort Salem Alder has to attend to her ill biddy. While she is at it, Anacostia finds a replacement for the biddy. Devon, a girl who has been waiting for this moment all her life is escorted by Anacostia to meet Alder after the elderly witch dies.
Alder says her goodbyes to her daughter then goes over to Devon to transfer the years the late biddy took of her. That is how the biddies are made. They are not old witches that have lived their years rather young witches that have been called to carry a fraction of Alder's over 300 years of her shoulders in order for Alder to continue her youth.  Devon magically becomes an elderly woman.

Scylla, in an attempt to stop Porter from exposing who she truly, makes him commit suicide when she whispers the words "I am filled with an unbearable sadness" into his ear. Porter goes over to Scylla's room to try to talk to her. He knows who she is, after her parents died the things she said, she is not supposed to her here. Scylla denies being in the spree then lures Porter with her kiss before she drives him to his death.
The exact moment Porter jumps to his death, Raelle is the first to see him. She tries to save him while he tries to tell her something but dies before he gets the chance too. Raelle is unable to save him and passes out due to her magic. The last person she sees before she shuts her eyes is Scylla.
